Online Direct introduced VOIP to compliment our data and hosting services as a full portfolio of converged voice services, allowing customers to achieve greater flexibility and cost-effectiveness on all their telephony needs. Online Direct customers receive a reliable communication service and carrier-grade call quality.

What is VOIP?
Call cost savings & high quality voice & data convergence
The most basic form of VoIP that most people are familiar with is using a microphone to chat over Skype. Online Direct VoIP allows you to make voice calls over a broadband connection, rather than using traditional telephone lines. It combines the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Internet data transfer with telephony. VoIP technology can offer an SMME substantial voice call cost savings on local, national, international and cellular calls.

Specific areas in which customers can expect to see savings include:
     -    VOIP calls between branches
     -    VOIP Local
     -    VOIP National
     -    VOIP Cellular
     -    VOIP Global (International calling)

Implementation
The first step in the successful implementation of any VOIP services is an investigation into the potential cost savings through analysing the current phone bills. This also provides the necessary information required for the dimensioning of the service i.e.
     -    The number of ports (voice channels) required per PBX
     -    The amount of bandwidth required per site
     -    Technical requirements for the implementation of the solution

Based on the metrics and technical requirements indicated above, a solution design will be compiled. Online Direct will work with the customer’s PBX maintenance vendor and systems integrator in compiling and implementing this design.

Customers will be allocated sufficient bandwidth to allow a specific number of concurrent calls inbound and outbound.

Scalability
Our VOIP solution set is highly scalable, allowing customers to gradually add capacity. Unlike ISDN PRI interfaces, which only allow upgrades in groups of 30 channels and which require a separate PBX interface and phone line for each PRI, customers can potentially upgrade their service by a single VOIP channel at a time, without adding additional physical cables and interfaces.

Customers who are unsure of capacity requirements can install capacity gradually, Thus, a customer could introduce a VOIP service with a small number of channels and easily upgrade as the need arises.

The Online Direct VOIP solutions are quoted on a case by case basis, please contact our sales department in order for a VOIP solution to be customised according to your needs.
