"Broadband Internet Access - the high speed revolution for SMEs"
Small and Medium Sized enterprises (SMEs) can now join the world of always-on, affordable and high speed broadband Internet access as a result of broadband technology
becoming available to the South African Internet community.
Broadband ADSL access comes without the hassle of dialling in. You can send and receive your e-mail at speeds as great as a diginet leased line type of connectivity but at
a massively reduced cost.
Online Direct has set up specific Broadband Business products to specifically concentrate on the broadband sector and to develop affordable solutions and offerings for the SME
market. Online Direct has both fixed line and wireless solutions for the SME market. Bundled with these Broadband solutions are a variety of value added services.
1. WHAT IS ADSL?
ADSL (Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line) is a super-fast technology that turns an ordinary telephone line into a multitasking access tool. ADSL provides data transmission at
significantly higher speeds than an ordinary dial-up or ISDN service, while maintaining the existing telephone service.
2. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ADSL?
- Faster access
- Reliability
- Always on connectivity - permanently connected to the internet
- Capped Telkom and internet bill - no more unpredictable phone accounts
- Multi purpose business tool - conference calling, multi media, internet access, voip services and fax simultaneously
3. WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS OF ADSL?
- ADSL users cannot be more than 3 - 5km from the exchange they are connecting to.
- An ADSL is limited to traditional copper telephone lines, quality of the copper connection may influence the quality of the
connection. Your exchange will need to support ADSL and ports have to be available. To check ADSL is available in your area

- Our standard ADSL connection has no Static IP Address. This means that you can't host your own website or mail server, however
our new uncapped Business ADSL connection includes 4 useable static IP’s and a CISCO router.

- Pentium II
- Minimum 166MHz processor speed
- 128Mb of Ram
- 100Mb Storage
- CD Rom Drive
8. ADSL MODEM REQUIREMENTS
Should you require Online Direct to set up your ADSL at your premises a charge of R399.00 per hour is applicable.
